Birdfair Last Day
Yesterday, I sent a newsletter about the bird fair. On the photo it was a Petrel that I referenced as Zino's Petrel, in fact was a Pterodroma feae from Desertas Islands. It was a test to see how many of you birdwatchers out there would get it right and immediately pointed that to us. After 24 hours only one got it right of roughly fourteen thousand. Soon we will post pictures of Zino's Petrels in our website. And sorry if I cause any embarrassment, though next year you can join us on quest for Zino's Petrels.

Madeira Wind Birds will be represented at the "The British Birdwacthing Fair" next month, August 21, 22 and 23, 2009, by Hugo Romano and Catarina Fagundes. We will not have a stand, though we will make a lecture on Sunday at 3 pm in the Lecture Marquee 1, about
"Zino's Petrel - History, Status and Conservation".
Venue: Egleton Nature Reserve, Rutland Water, Oakham, Rutland
Just like the 3 years, we will be offering some lots at the British Bird Fair Charity Auction 2009. All the money raised goes to the conservation of birds world wide.
Have a look at the Bird Fair's website and look for the Auction, they will be accepting bids through the internet.

Just like the last couple of years, we will be offering some lots at the Bird Fair Auction, so if you are thinking about or you know someone special that is coming to Madeira, offer him/her a "Birds of Madeira" book or, even better, 4 birdwatching tours with Madeira Wind Birds! If not, you can always bid on our "Dare to Birdwatch in Madeira" t-shirts... Have a look at the Bird Fair's website and look for the Auction, they will be accepting bids through the internet. Madeira Wind Birds will be present at the British Birdwacthing Fair next weekend, 15th, 16th and 17th of August 2008, by Hugo Romano and Catarina Fagundes. We will not have a stand though we will make a lecture on Saturday at 3 pm in the Lecture Marquee 1, about Selvagens Islands. This presentation aims to be an introduction to these Portuguese Islands where in the past hunting killed an average of 20,000 Cory's Shearwaters annually, its history and natural value and what is being done for its conservation. "Selvagens Islands - a seabirds paradise!" do not miss this on Saturday!
